Heart of the Tiger: Embracing Personal Power
“Heart of the Tiger.
I wish to tame the waves.
And free the people from chains.
I refuse to die a slave.
Rebel War Goddess. Battle Queen.
I fight for Freedom. Not glory or honour or fame.
Chosen leader among my peers, I will never let them down. I guide and inspire the worthy to wear my crown.
Come ride with me. Come fight with me. We will never bow our heads in shame.”
~ lyrics (I wrote) for the song, Lady Trieu and the Kingdom of Wu, when I was in the band, Iron Kingdom.
These lyrics are based off of the story of a real life bada$$ warrior woman from 3rd century Vietnam, known as Lady Trieu. Her courage, strength & intelligence were likened to that of the powerful tiger, and she rode an elephant into battle! (look her up!).
She grew up a slave in a heavily oppressed Vietnam.
But freed herself and built up an army of thousands of men and women.
They chose her as their leader because she inspired them to stand in their power.
She showed them they did not have to bow their heads and become slaves to their oppressors.
Breaking the victim – perpetrator – saviour cycle.
She showed by example what a determined & ‘free heart’ can do.
She led with the Heart through Fierce Love.
She had to first have strong self love, before she could inspire others in the way she did.
You may or may not have a physical ‘battle’ to fight – but there are areas in life where we give our power away, and are now called to reclaim it.
Her story feels very Leo energy to me – heart led, inspired leadership.
Leo energy is very connected with inner power & strength that comes from the heart.
To cultivate power that comes from within (rather than fall into the illusion of power outside of ourselves), we must first align with our heart.
What is your heart telling you? Where is it leading you? What does it want to say?
When we connect with our heart, we connect with our true power & shine our brightest light out into the world – simultaneously inspiring those around us to do the same and step into their authentic power – without apologizing for how bright they dare to shine.
Shine bright – all ways, always <3
